British Parliamentry deligation to meet President

(May 05,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The delegation of British Members of Parliament is scheduled to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions will focus on providing humanitarian assistance for civilians displaced in the north. The delegation is also scheduled to tour welfare centres in Vavuniya.

Furthermore, the British delegation of parliamentarians is also scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama this evening.

Former British Defence Secretary Des Browne is among the delegates who arrived in the island yesterday, and according to the BBC, Sri Lanka rejected the appointment of Des Browne as a special British envoy to Sri Lanka in February.
