(May 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The National War Heroes Felicitation Rally will commence this afternoon around 12.30 from the Campbell Grounds, says Susil Premjayantha, General Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UFPA).
“We were able to free the motherland from the clutches of the LTTE due to the services rendered by our war heroes. Therefore, in order to show our gratitude to these heroes and our President, a rally has been organized with the participation of everyone.
“This rally will commence from the Campbell Park around 12. 30pm and proceed to the Parliament grounds through Rajagiriya. Proceedings will then take place under the patronage of the President.
“Various persons from numerous fields will be present at the occasion,” Mr. Premjayanth said.
Meanwhile, a decision has been taken to hold the funerals of the LTTE cadres killed in battle at Mullaitivu, according to security sources.
They said that the funeral of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and other leaders who were also killed in battle would be held in Mullaitivu as well.
Troops have recovered more than 300 cadres.
