Devananda awards posts of justice of the peace to the members of NCP with disabilties

(June 12, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Douglas Devananda, Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare who is also Chairman of National Council for Persons (NCP) with Disabilities has arrived at the decision to award posts of Justice of the Peace to the members of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities to enable them to continue involvement in social service activities. Accordingly on recommendation by Minister Devananda, late Hon. Amarasiri Dodangoda, Minister of Justice and Law Reforms had taken steps to first appoint Mr. Cyril Siriwardena and Mr. S. L. Hettiarachchi as Justices of the Peace.

The letters of appointment to these National Council members were handed over to them by Douglas Devananda at the Council Members’ meeting held at his Ministerial premises, No. 61, Isipathana Mawatha, Colombo 05, on 11th July 2009.

Members of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities including Mrs. V. Jegarasasingham, Secretary to the Ministry participated.
