Foreign Minister visits Kingsbury Buddhist temple London UK

(June 08, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi thero, Sri Lanka Freedom Party UK and SLAT UK members welcomed Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and his wife Mrs Bogollagama on their visit to Kingsbury temple, London, on Saturday 6 June as part of his UK state tour. The event was well attended by Sri Lankans in the UK. Galayaye Piyadassi thero hosted the event and invited the Foreign Minister to address the audience on the current situation in Sri Lanka.

Speeches were heard from Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi thero, HE High Commissioner to UK Justice Nihal Jayasinghe, Harrow councilor Mano Dharmaraja, and senior leader and spokesman for EROS Mr Nesan Shankar Raji.

Among the guests were Deputy High Commissioner Sumith Nakalanda, former UK High Commissioners Chandra Monarawala and Kshenuka Seneviratne and President SLFP UK Mrs Rani Bulathwela.

This was an opportunity for those in attendance to learn more about the international community’s response to the current situation in Sri Lanka. The Foreign Minister answered questions from the audience. Mr Chanaka Dissanayake from SLAT UK proposed a centralised European media centre based in UK to disseminate correct and up to date information throughout the European media on the humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka.
