(June 04, Melbourne, Sri Lanka Guardian) While we rejoice the peerless achievements of our defence forces in annihilating the LTTE, let us remember the unique contributions of late Lt Col Muthalib who was gunned down by the Tamil Tiger agents in Colombo on 31st May 2004, four years ago.

Col Muthalib was one of the architects of the demolition process planned by Sri anka defence forces in overcoming the LTTE. He was a dedicated member of the Sri anka Army’s intelligence wing and in fact, according to his colleagues he led his team from the front. It is said that mere mention of Col Muthalib’s and his team put the fear of God in to LTTE’s leadership. He had contacts everywhere and he operated from many fronts. On a number of occasions he was able to narrowly escape giving his adversaries the slip while creating chaos in the enemy camp.

Dear Colonel, you will be remembered forever by the grateful Sri Lankans as you were one among the many heroes of our age who had to pay the supreme price to defend the land of our fathers and sons.

All Sri Lankans who knew your dedication to Mother Lanka convey their gratitude to your wife Lt Col Kumudini Muthalib and to your parents.
