JSS will not shirk in its duties to fight for workers’ rights – Johnston Fernando

(July 21, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The President of the Jathika sevaka Sangamaya, (JSS), and UNP M.P. Johnston Fernando addressing a news conference yesterday (20 July) said, as the JSS has always stood by the workers, so it will never shirk in its duty to protect and promote workers’ rights. Speaking further, he challenged the Govt. to implement. the workers’ charter. Now that the war is over, the Govt. has no excuse to justify its postponement of settling workers’ issues, he noted.

The JSS which is to celebrate its golden jubilee tomorrow (22Jul) is as strong as ever while ever growing stronger ., Mr. Fernando added. A Sangika Dana also will be held at the JSS Headquarters to mark the golden jubilee. Another grand celebration is to follow on Sept. 17th to mark the birth anniversary of Late J.R. Jayawardena , the founder of the JSS.
