(July 23, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) There is a blatant falsehood in an article featured on Wednesday July 22nd on your website by Dr. Sellakapu S Upasiri de Silva entitled ‘Implementation of the 13th amendment may create separate ethnic provinces’. The relevant reference reads as follows:
“On 30th June 2009, President has instructed all those political Ambassadors like Dayan Jayathilake and Hemantha Warnakulasooriya to keep their private opinion to themselves as he is taking the responsibility of taking the final decision on 13 A.”
This is an absolute falsehood.
I never received such an instruction. Nor indeed did Ambassador Warnakulasooriya, whom I just phoned on the matter.
I assume that the writer states what he did on the basis of some shred of evidence and therefore I suggest he quotes the exact text, authorship and date of this so-called instruction (and some details of its transmission, recipient and receipt), before purveying such damnable lies through the media.
