Making waves in Sri Lanka

(August 10, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Actress Pooja is a sought-after personality in Sri Lanka. She has emerged the dream girl and the darling of the masses in neighbouring island nation.

Her maiden Sinhalese movie Angelika was a blockbuster and her next venture Asai Mang Piyabanna is also witnessing a good run. The young actress is now busy working in Yaluvo.

Buzz is that she has been roped in for two more Sinhala movies. Pooja had acted in several Tamil films including Ullam Ketkumae, Jay Jay, Attagasam, Naan Kadavul, Oram Po, Thagapansamy, Thambi and Pattiyal.

Kick is Thillalangadi

Filmmaker Raja, who is remaking Telugu hit Kick has titled it asThilalangadi. The Tamil version stars Jayam Ravi in the lead. With Tamannah opposite Ravi, Thillalangadi will go to floors after the Tamil month Aadi. Kick had Ravi Teja and Ileana in the lead with Tamil actor Shaam playing a pivotal character. Shaam is expected to play the same role in the Tamil version too.

Speaking about his role, Shaam says, ‘The character had to be portrayed that way in the film. I am happy that the film is being done in Tamil and I am part of it’.

Introduced by the director Jeeva in 12B, Shaam has played a romantic hero in several films including Iyarkai, Aei Nee Romba Azhaga Irukke, Ullam Ketkumae and Lesa Lesa.

Jayam Ravi has completed shooting for Peranmai and is geared up to start Thilalangadi. Interestingly, his earlier movies with Raja ( Jeyam, M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, Unakum Enakum and Santosh Subramaniam) were all remakes of Telugu hits and all of them went on to become blockbusters.

Nirav to direct Arya’s brother

Here is another cinematographer who is getting ready to wield the megaphone. He is Nirav Shah, one of the stylish ‘cameramen’ of Tamil cinema.

If sources are to be believed, the cinematographer would direct a movie with actor Arya’s brother Sathya (formerly Jaheer Khan) in the lead.

A romantic entertainer, the film is to be produced by ‘The Show People’, a production firm floated by Arya. Nirav and Arya worked together for Sarvam which hit the screen a couple of months ago.

Simbu in Asal?

Silamabarasan would be playing a cameo in Ajith- starrer Asal. Directed by Saran, the film features Sameera Reddy and Bhavana as heroines. Buzz is that Simbu would appear with Ajith for the title song set to tune by Bharadwaj. Simbu had acted as Ajith’s fan in Manmadhan and Silambattam.

He loves multi-tasking

Perhaps taking a cue from actors and comedian trying their luck in crooning, producer ‘Ice House’ Thyagu is now following the act. He is rendering his voice for a song set to tune by Dhina in Ithanai Naalai Engirunthai. Interestingly, actor Vivek has also sung a song in it. The movie produced by Thyagu and directed by R Balu, features Anandha Kannan, Manochitra and Vivek in pivotal roles.

Says Thyagu: ‘Dhina urged me to sing the song Kuchi Ice Polae Kadhal. Initially I was hesitant. But he gave me the courage and recorded the song. It is peppy and powerful’.

Further, he says, ‘The movie has a strong message. It throws light on love failure and its impact on youngsters’. The shooting for the movie is currently on. Vivek has played his part well and would make the audience laugh throughout, he adds. Plans are on to release the movie this December.
