Eastern Province cabinet protest to the President

(September 14, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to exclusive news published in the Tamil website Nerruppu.com, the ministerial cabinet of the Eastern Provincial Council have expressed their disappointment to the President Mahinda Rajapakse about the conduct of Governor of the Province.

‘We are not asking for anything new. Proper implementation of the 13the amendment to the constitution permitting us to fulfil the basic expectations of our people is the basic powers we are asking for’ is the theme the letter. The letter further states ‘interference of the Governor is preventing us to execute our just responsibilities.’

The strongly worded letter is signed by the entire Eastern Province ministers. Signatories to the letter are the Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Ministers M L A M Hisbulla, , T Navaratnarajah, M S Uthumalebbai and W Dissanayake.
