Pressure on Lanka to protect rights of Tamils: Rahul

(September 10, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) India is applying massive pressure on Sri Lanka to protect the rights of Tamils affected by the ethnic strife, Congress leader Rahul
Gandhi on Thursday said refuting the charge that government was not doing enough to mitigate their suffering.

"The Congress strongly feels that the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils are very important and should be protected", he told a press conference here.

Denying the charge by some parties that the government was a "mute spectator" on the issue, he said the Centre had sent two top functionaries - Pranab Mukherjee, when he was External Affairs Minister, and National Security Adviser M K Narayanan to Colombo to talk to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Mukherjee was the senior-most minister next only to the Prime Minister, Gandhi said.

"My party always had taken utmost care of the issue. We will do anything for the Sri Lankan Tamils," he said.

"It is absolutely wrong that government is not doing anything. Government is applying tremendous pressure on the Sri Lankan government," he added.

Gandy family gained enough sin by supporting srilankan thugs to kill more than 100 thousand innocent people, and it isimpossible fpr india to come out of third world status while srilanka is moving from poor country to begger status.

We always talked about devide and rule those days, i never understud that, now anain west is going to apply on srilanka and india. Cina is bit different, they are more intelegent than any of us.

Still not late, without messing with tamils, resolve their issue on your own otherwise srilanka can not stop west intefearing into this issue, then things will be messy, Singhala-Bhudist country will become another Ethiopia, not Singapoor like all of us dream.
