(September 28, Jaffna, Sri Lanka Guardian) Nineteen persons, housed at the Menik Farm welfare camp in Vavuniya, have been taken into custody following a tense situation where two persons were injured.
According to security forces, the individuals were part of a group that had attempted to escape from the camp on Saturday evening. When Army personnel intervened to stop them from escaping, the group had begun hurling stones at them.
The group had even attempted to lob grenades at the Army personnel forcing the security personnel to open fire to bring the situation under control.
Two persons injured in the incident had been admitted to Settikulam hospital.
