Asian Co-operation Dialogue (ADC) ministers agree to cooperate in combating terrorism

(October 15, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Foreign Ministers of the Asian Co-operation Dialogue (ADC) who conclude their two day meeting in Colombo this evening agreed, as an urgent priority, to cooperate in combating the menace of terrorism in the region.

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama who addressed the media after the conclusion o the eighth ACD meeting said ministers from the 31 nations who attended the meeting expressed grave concern that the continuing threat of international terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, has adversely affected the economic and social progress of the people of the region.

They also recognised that solidarity and friendship among member states provides the basis to counter this threat,” the Minster said.

The other matters that figured during the talks were the potential for co-operation in tourism, transport and trade to promote people-to-people contact in the region and the need for a global approach to climate change.
