Karunanidhi has betrayed TN people, says Swamy

(October 20, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has betrayed the people of Tamils in the Mullaperiyar issue, Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy today said.

Addressing media persons here, Swamy said, ‘though the Supreme Court has given permission to raise the height of the dam to 142 feet, no effort has been taken by the Tamilnadu government in this regard. Karunanidhi should speed up the works to increase the height of the dam at the earliest’.

Alleging that karunanidhi is enacting a drama in the issue, Swamy said, ‘the farmers in the State will teach him an appropriate lesson at an appropriate time’.

Launching an verbal attack on DPI president Thol Thirumavalavan, he said, ‘his outburst against Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakshe after his visit to the Island nation is unfair and unjust.

His remarks would spoil the relationship between the two nations. Hence the State government should initiate legal action against him and also the DPI should be removed from the UPA’.

Throwing light on the Indo - China border conflict, Swamy, ‘I discussed the issue with Chinese leaders during my recent visit to the Communist nation.

Leaders of both the countries should resolve all disputes through a dialogue. When the Chinese Premiere visits Bangalore next month, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should discuss these issues’.
