Muthuhettigama getting ready join UNP?

(October 19, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to Sri Lanka Freedom Party circles Nishantha Muthuhettigama, a sensational news maker in the last Southern Provincial Council election is said to be planning to join the main opposition United National Party or Sri Lanka Freedom Party (Mahajana wing led by the Former Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera).

Nishantha Muthuhettgama is a controversial politician who quarrelled with his party over some internal changes brought in during election time.

Despite hostilities experienced with his Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), he was able to secure the third place on preference votes in the recently held Southern Provincial election.

"Mutuhettigama has spoken to key persons in the opposition party and he has explained why he is displeased with his party," one of the Central Committee members of the United National party told the Sri Lanka Guardian.

Even the ruling SLFP has unofficially announced that the son of late Minister Richard Pathirana, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana will be appointed as Akmeemana electoral division organizer after effective sacking of Nishantha Muthuhettigama.

The Sri Lanka Guardian learns, the government knowing Muthuhettigama having large number of the members of ruling party supporting him has decided to go take the path of party disciplinary action against him.

"There is no doubt Muthuhettigama did quite a bit of good things for the people. As a young politician unlike the President’s buddy Dr Marvin Silva he has done tremendous help to his people’ said a SLFP party official anonymously.
