General tells the govt, 'its not the practice to expose confidential documents'

(December 12, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) General (retd) Sarath Fonseka today (Dec. 11) condemned the actions by the government to expose confidential documents regarding military purchases in Parliament.

‘It is not the usual practice to disclose details about military purchases in public”, Gen Fonseka told a gathering of Buddhist monks at the convention of the Jathika Bikku Peramuna or the JVP Bikku front.

He said that there were certain documents related to purchases below US dollars 25 million which he needed to sign in capacity of Army Commander, but other purchases were handled by the Defence Secretary.

He said that some of the documents which he had signed legally were now being produced in Parliament and this was in contrary to the practice as confidential documents should never by exposed.

If you are talking about cleaner administration, why harp. If you have nothing to hide let the government expose anything. The very fact that SF has align with UNP and JVP is unbecoming of his character. He has gone too low to grab power. I hope he will be taught a lesson by the electorate.

Can you please answer the question General.

Parliament has a right to look into it. There is no question about that. But the question is not that. So please answer the question.

This is a very interesting development. The man who few weeks ago tried to link Gotabhaya for these deals are now crying fowl. If he is clean why should he worry about it? He is still to answer those allegations made against him. Me, MY and I General is getting worried about something here.
