Will the President give a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to Minister Devananda’s claim

An open letter!

By Podi Malli and Sinna Thambi

Dear President

(December 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) ‘Addressing the media personal at the Government Information Department, Minister Devananda said that the ten point program drafted by them were presented to the President and as he agreed to implement those, they came to this decision. He said that the ten point program would determine the destiny of the Tamil people’ (Quote: Your Excellency secretly funded Asian Tribune- web media of K T Rajasingham 5/12)’.

We are very keen to hear your own forthright comment or statement about the claim of Minister Douglas Devananda that you have ‘agreed to implement’ his ten point program.

If you had agreed as claimed, Sinna Thambi will wholeheartedly support you but Podi Malli of course will be disappointed and oppose you. If you did not, Sinna Thambi will be very unhappy and Poddi Malli of course will be upbeat and jubilant about it.

We also would like to know why such important 10 point proposal was not jointly presented with the Minister Douglas to the public in Jaffna. It is such an important document for the Minister, that you could have given a helping hand to him by publicly accepting it in the Minister Douglas’s Jafnna Municipal Council fortress to enhance his support base there.

Finally, any information about the Minister demanding ‘Sally’ (money) from you at the time of presenting his proposal will be very welcome.

We await to hear your public response at the earliest-if possible before the Presidential election.

Kind regards and God bless you.

Yours faithfully

Podi Malli and Sinna Thambi
