EROS is the only alternative leadership for the Tamil speaking people of the North-East

By Nesan Shankar Raji

(Feberuary 24, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Webeen actively monitoring the present political situation engulfing our homelands at this present time. It has led us to believe that no other Tamil political party including the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is capable of carrying our cause forward that will ensure our community are given equal political and social rights and a just solution that meets the aspirations of all the Tamil speaking people of the North-East and expatriate Tamil speaking Diaspora from the North-East.

We are demanding only what was agreed to be implemented under the 13th Amendment of the constitution signed as a result of the Indo-Lanka Accord of 1987.

India is yet to come out and hatch out of its cocoon and the Indian establishment have to own up entirely for the present situation faced by our community and for allowing our plight to reach this desperate.

The Thimpu Principles which were declared in Bhutan in 1985 under a unilateral declaration by the Eelam National Liberation Front (ENLF) must be accepted and endorsed by the Sri Lankan state and the Sinhala speaking community and hence the Government of Sri Lanka must come forward with a just solution if they are to win the hearts and minds of the Tamil speaking people of the North–East including the expatriate Diaspora who actively support and endorse our cause for the recognition of Tamil Eelam being the traditional homeland of the Tamil speaking people of the North-East.

Members of EROS based in Sri Lanka and abroad will continue to work for the cause of the Tamil speaking community and the recognition of our political and social rights and we call upon the Tamil speaking people of the North-East and the expatriate Diaspora to support our organisation and its cause.
