(May 14, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to reliable sources the Attorney General ( AG) is these days busy in drafting the amendments to the constitution. An observer says that “ this is the first time that an Attorney General is engaged in the drafting a constitution.” Meanwhile Legal Draftsman is kept in the dark on what happening.
Legal experts say that “the AG’s role of giving an independent opinion on constitutional issues will be compromised by this AG being involved in the drafting itself. “ How could he comment on his own draft” they ask?
