The Government is forming a militray volunteer force under K.P.?

(August 19, Zurich, Sri Lanka Guardian) The government of Sri Lankan is forming a volunteer military force under the former LTTE arm's smuggler Kumaran Pathmathan aka KP using the former LTTE cadets who surrendered to the Sri Lankan Army, according to the Lanka News web website. The government is planning to make K.P a Colonel in charge of this military force. Officers from the Sri Lankan armed forces are completely against this plan by Mahinda Rajapaksa's Government. At the same time KP is negotiating with the Government that he be promoted to Brigadier. The highest rank that can be attained in the Sri Lankan army is colonel and to achieve that one has to have a University degree with ten year service on the graduated field. This is of course until the Rajapaksa's change the rules and accept K.P'S qualifications from a university in Thailand University as a degree holder in International Arms and Drugs smuggling.

We cannot deny in the past all the arms groups used violence to reach their needs but the world order has changed after 9/11 and the LTTE period. At present, none of the former armed groups is involved in any kind of violence; they have adopted the democratic process. But the Sri Lankan Government wants to keep the Tamil people divided and show the world the Tamils are still using violence. This will help to keep them divided by forming a military force under KP.

If KP is appointed as an officer in the Sri Lankan army by Rajapaksa using his presidential powers, it will be same as the LTTE leader Prabakaran's military appointments of the LTTE cadets as Vera Venkai to Brigadier. Many of the military ranks issued by the LTTE were posthumous although some were appointed as colonels when they are alive such as Colonels Soornam, Banu, Dhurka, Vdusha, Theepan, Pathuman and of course, Colonel Karuna. Even though KP didn't get his colonel rank from the LTTE leader, M.Rajapaksa will fulfill KP's desires and make him a colonel in the Sri Lankan Army.

In forming a volunteer army under KP the Rajapaksa government is fulfilling its hidden agenda of eliminating all the Tamil groups. They are fully aware that at some point in time other Tamil groups will try to defend themselves and all this will lead to violence in the Tamil dominated north and east. This in turn will lead to the expatriate Tamils no longer visiting Sri Lanka.

At the end of the day the movement of the army personnel and their families to the north and east, thereby increasing the Sinhala population will result in the Tamil population, having survived Prabakaran's terror now falling to the Rajapaksa dictatorship.
