(August 13, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian)The authorities dismissed reports that the former Army Commander General (Retd.)Sarath Fonseka has been sentenced by the first Court Martial and said that proceedings are still continuing.
Lakshman Hullugalle, Director General at The Media Centre for National Security said. “The reports are incorrect since the proceedings are still on. There has been no decision by the court as yet”.
Aunura Kumara Dissanayake MP and spokesperson for Fonseka’s party- The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) said that only the prosecution had ended its submissions on Thursday. A verdict is yet to be reached, he added.
