Comment: KP mouth strapped by Gota!

(October 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) After going on a spree with a selected media for few days Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam (alias Selvarasa Pathmanathan, Kumaran Pathmanathan or simply KP) who is currently held in luxury detention, the Defense Ministry has shut the doors for him to speak to the interested investigative media including the BBC.

The denials come following opinion being expressed by media about his arrest and legal status in Colombo.

The government claimed KP was arrested in Malaysia on August 5, 2009 with the open support of the Malaysian government. Malaysia has denied its involvement in any co-operation with the Sri Lanka.

According to news reported, KP co-operated with the Sri Lanka government for his arrest to enjoy the luxuries provided to him by the government. He had reached Colombo without any scratch mark and both KP and the Defense Ministry are lip tight about the flight details of his landing in Colombo.

KP has not been charged in the Courts or undergone the Terrorism Investigation Department’s (TIS) torturing process the department specialise in. He is treated as a special guest and his food is not limited basic pol-sambol (coconut dish), parippu (Dhal curry) and plain rice.

Following the media curtailment, the government promoted political work of KP too has gone silent. The respite is expected to continue until General Sarath Fonseka’s rigorous imprisonment is bleed out of the media by the Defense Ministry. Tell a Friend
