Eastern Province Chief Minister is said to be sitting on a time bomb set by the government

The government is said to be unhappy that Pillaiyan is not fully co-operating on instructions given on pro-government and anti-UN campaign in the eastern province. Pillayan’s non-operation in not holding demonstrations against Ban-Ki Moon’s advisory report and not helping the government to engage in the anti-UN signature campaign is seen as the final chance for him to expect support from the government to run the provincial administration.

(May 18, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to information reaching from a Defence Ministry source in Colombo, the intelligence establishment is said to be geared to end the Chief Ministership of Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan at any cost.

The recent killing of two leading Tamils belonging to Pillian’s and his rival government Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan known as Col. Karuna are said to be operations carried out by the government intelligence service to stir up troubles for the Chief Minister.

Following this, the police had raided Pilliyan’s residence to harass him but did not find any evidence to incriminate him.

According to the Defence Ministry source, Minister Karuna is said to be working in tandem with the intelligence service to oust Pilliayan from the Chief Minister post at any cost.
