More protests over 'Grease Yakas' in east

(August 17, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Villagers broke into the Vavunathivu Divisional Secretary’s office and damaged property after claiming that three ‘Grease Yakas’ entered the nurses quarters at night and police had failed to take action.

The villagers attacked the DS office as this was the third such incidents in three days and the police had failed to take action.

In the latest incident last night three persons had entered the nurses quarters around 11.00 p.m. and given chase they had run to the nearby police post, but the police denied the claim.

Villagers are now demanding that the Divisional Secretary takes action to provide security for the people.
