( June 20, 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The crisis at the Ceylon Today newspaper owned by Tiran Alles has deepened with more shame coming for the owner.

The Chief Editor and Director of the Editorial, Lalith Allahakoon has made Alles and his Lord and Master, Sarath Fonseka angry after going public about his fight with management.

Allahakoon has given a statement to the media and heavily canvassing support for his campaign. Lankadeepa Editor Siri Ranasinghe, the President of the Editors Guild has promised Allahakoon they will issue strong statement against Alles and his Maubima (daily paper) Editor, Thushara Gunaratne for violating freedom of media and trying to sack Allahakoon. Siri Ranasinghe promised Allahakoon he will not take Thushara as member for the Editor Guild when he is the President. Gunaratne is saying he will expose Ranasinghe if his doing that. He is telling media and politicians he has ‘information bombs’ against Ranasinghe to remove his clothes.

Allahakoon is also consulting lawyers to file action against Tiran Alles. He has canvassed Free Media Movement but one of his opponent, Hana Ibrahim has stopped FMM statement because she is office bearer of FMM. Hana also opposed Allahakoon to Alles and told she will do the newspaper even if everybody going. She cut Allahakoon’s throat.
