foreign country has queried from the President when he was reducing the army
and the President had replied the army will not be reduced or disbanded’ satted
the Secretary Ministry of Defence and
Urban Development, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa.‘ The President is of the
belief that those engaged in the armed forces can be profitably engaged in the
development of the country’ Mr. Rajapaksa said.
He was speaking
at a ceremony at the BMICH in Colombo
yesterday(17) .
‘ Although it is
the basic responsibility of the armed forces
for the security of the country, we have utilized them in whatever manner possible for the development
of the country, Mr. Rajapaksa said.
