( January 29, 2013, Dhaka, Sri Lanka Guardian) After completing four year of the five-year tenure of the government, Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, made a television speech to the nation. In her speech to the nation, she gave a sketch to the people, what her government has done last four years. In her 29 minutes speech, she told more than twenty-five minutes regarding her government’s development works; She mentioned all of the development works, which her government has done in the last four years. Some of the main points of her speech were that, she told when her government took charge of the office, then the electricity production capacity of the country was near only three thousand Mega Watts but now it has increased to six thousand-Mega Watt; so her government has produced more than three thousand five hundred Mega Watt electricity within four years. She also added that within the next six months her government would increase one thousand more Mega Watt electricity. That is why for the first time, the country is going to fulfill its electricity demand. She also mentioned that, when she took the charge of the office then the country was suffering from food deficiency, now her government has secured the food security. Besides, she demands that, despite the recession of world economy her government has achieved a good health in her country’s economy. Last four years, her government achieved a continuity of GDP of the country and it is always above six percent. Recently the prestigious newspaper, Guardian of London has published an article regarding Bangladesh’s economy, in this article Guardian mentioned which way the economy of Bangladesh is going, within 2020 the economy of Bangladesh will be bigger than the economy of any European country. On the other hand, World Bank report has said that, according to GDP, the rating of Bangladesh’s economy is fifth in the world.

Besides her achievement, Sheik Hasina appealed to the people that, people should uphold the constitution of the country at any cost. She made a humble appeal to the people that, to carry on the betterment of the country’s development the people should continue her government for the next tenure. She appealed to the people that, they should take the decisions for the good future of the country. She appealed it to the people because her government has taken more decision for the development of the country, but to finish-it will take more five years. If the opposition comes to the power, they will stop the entire development program. Their previous record says that. Because their economy program is more conservative besides they are not very much against corruption rather they are in favor of corruption; besides the higher authority of their part always helps corruption. The elder son of the opposition leader was remarked as Mr. 10 percent when his mother was the Prime Minister of the country. The principal secretary of that government gave an interview in a daily newspaper after the end of their tenure; and he said that, Khaleda government could not set-up any electricity plant for the demand of the high bribe of the son of the then government Chief Khaleda Zia.

On the other hand, this government has already produced three thousand five hundred Mega Watt electricity. In addition, ongoing plant of the electricity shows that at the end of the government, it will produce more five thousand Mega Watt. Besides, they will buy more than five hundred Mega Watt from India. In addition, they are going to produce electricity in joint venture with India, Nepal and Bhutan. So if Sheik Hasina’s government discontinues then the entire program will be hampered. But what Sheikh Hasina’s government is doing in the sector of electricity will help to make Bangladesh as a new economical hub in this region. We know that, Myanmar is now a new avenue of the world economy. On the other hand, North East India has more resources. These two will be a good economical partner of Bangladesh in future. Besides, Nepal and Bhutan will also be good partners of this new economical hub whose center will be Bangladesh. Not only that, a huge amount of investment of America in garment sector will be shifted from China to Bangladesh very soon. Therefore, Bangladesh has to give the transit and seaport facilities to Nepal, Bhutan, India, Myanmar and the eastern part of China; and it has to make sure that Bangladesh will not allow any type of terrorism in its territory. In this four years of the government, Sheikh Hasina has made sure that, her government maintains zero tolerance regarding terrorism. In her previous time when the present opposition of Bangladesh was in power, then Bangladesh was a cocoon of terrorism. Then it was one of the safe grounds of Islamic Fundamentalist and the Indian insurgent groups. But sheikh Hasina has rid the country from that phase. In addition, her Policy is in favor of regional and international cooperation and connectivity. On the other hand, the present opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s spokesman told that, they are in favor of transit, at the time of Khaleda’s recent India visit. But after returning to Bangladesh, in a press conference, the party spokesperson Mr. Tariqul Islam said that, their party did not change their policy regarding India. Besides, they have tightened more their relation with the terrorist party Jamat-e- Islami; not only that they have made an ally of 18 parties now. Most of the party of the 18-party ally are anti Indian and anti American besides they represent the terrorist group of many international terrorist organization including Taleban, Harkatul Zehad and the Islamic Brother hood.

Therefore, if the regional power and the international power want, Bangladesh as a new regional economic hub and a country against terrorism, it is better for them to continuation Sheikh Hasina’s rule. In addition, the total population of Bangladesh is more than 160 million. The age of 60 million people is 20 to 25 years. So, Bangladesh has a huge number of young human power. 10 million people are now roughly 18 years old. So, now the first priority of Bangladesh is to use its young human power properly. Bangladesh sends a good number of human resources abroad. But, for building a sustainable economy, Bangladesh has to build up a strong internal market for the young human power. To build up this market, Bangladesh needs to continue its development. If interrupted it by any means, it will be harmful for this country and it will also hamper the economical development in this region. Even it will be a cause of hampering world-peace.
