( February 18, 2013, Chennai , Sri Lanka Guardian) Manjula Wediwardena published the poetry collection Mathrukawak Nethi Mathrubhoomiya (Motherland that lost the Land) in 2010 and the Tamil translation published in India. The two prominent translators, M.Rishan Shareef and Fahima Jahan converted the poetry to Tamil, was a publication of “Ezhuna” media foundation based on United Kingdom. A dialog would be held in London in April regarding the translated anthology.
“Niruththara Samadhiya” (Hopeless Heart), the first poetry of Manjula Wediwardena was published in 1997, was a join venture with Shane Mackelvie. In year 2002, the poetry “Pilihuduvi”(Kingfisheres) and in year 2008, the poetry ”Madhusandini Madhuwitha” (Glass of Wine from the Honeymoon) was presented to his readership by Manjula Wediwardena. While having an exile from the year 2009, Manjula Wediwardena published the poetry, “Motherland that lost the Land” in year 2010 and the poetry, “ Ehala Emathumakata Eheremi” ( Awaking from a summon of summer) in year 2011.
The poetry, “Motherland that lost the Land” of writer and a journalist, Manjula Wediwardena, was the first book of Sinhalese poetry, ever translated in Tamil.
A conference will be conduct in London and Norway in April and another conference in Canada and Switzerland regarding this Tamil translated poetry and several other compositions, stated by the “Ezhuna” media foundation. Ezhuna Media Foundation is a non - profit, charitable, independent media organization founded in 2012. The primary objective of this organization is to record various voices of the people, especially those occupying the margins of societies. Operating in the social spaces closely related to Sri Lanka’s Tamil speaking communities, Ezhuna aims at recording, preserving and engaging with various forms of arts and culture associated with these communities.
