We want rule of law and not that of Hoodlums

( April 1, 2013, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Tamil United Liberation Front very strongly condemns the most disgraceful manner in which a group of people had gone in a procession that too with National Flags and in the presence of Police personnel attacked the TNA’s office at Kilinochchi where some Parliamentarians were having a discussion with some of their supporters strangely enough the police on duty just looked on when stones were pelted at the TNA’s office injuring more than 20 innocent civilians some of whom were hospitalized. Those injured include the Chairman and vice-chairman of the Kilinochchi Pradesha Saba. When three of the culprits were arrested and handed over to the Police they were released even without being questioned, rousing strong suspicion that the blessing of some higher up was there for this nasty incident bringing the reputation of the Government to a low level.

It is a pity that every Tom Dick and Harry have found kilinochchi as their grazing ground to make money by various means. People who lived in fear and tension for years are now not free but living with more fear and more tension. If the Government can’t stop this trend without any delay, not only Kilinochchi the entire Country may have to face national disasters. With the power of arms on oneside and botheration of thugs on the other, what can we, who are committed to non-violence, do other than seeking the intervention of the supreme power. I repeatedly warn those, be they politicians or service personnel to limit their powers with in the operations of the law and not to earn the wrath of the Gods. Let all these people jointly not bring disgrace to the Lord Buddha and his teachings. They all must live as Buddhist and also guide the people according to the teachings of Lord Buddha.
