TGTE Launches a Virtual Portal for Tamil Eelam – ‘thalaivaasal’

"Portal will enable the TGTE to have dialogue with the people in the homeland in the first instance and later with the wider transnational Tamil community."

1) New Tool of Diplomacy.
2) Expanding TGTE’s Strategies.
3) Promote Dialogue with Eelam Tamils, Diaspora & Tamils Across Globe.

( September 25, 2013, New York City, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is pleased to announce the creation of a virtual portal named ‘thalaivaasal’ which will connect us in the diaspora intimately with Eelam Tamils living in the North East of the island of Sri Lanka. As a new tool of diplomacy, the portal will enable the TGTE to have dialogue with the people in the homeland in the first instance and later with the wider transnational Tamil community.

We believe the application of modern technology and it tools and new forms of media in due course would expand the reach of TGTE’s policy and strategy through this portal, and in turn bring us direct and immediate feedback from the community. It has the potential to increase TGTE’s ability to put forth its message directly to the people of Tamil Eelambut also to the larger global society.

We are enthused by the use of such technologies recently by the US State Department to open virtual embassies to Iran and Syria, and similarly by Israel to reach out and make their presence in neighboring Gulf Council countries Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. Use of social media to carry out diplomacy and communicate the Tamil point of view to Sinhalese in the island of Sri Lanka is our longer term goal.

Our choice of the name ‘thalaivaasal’ in Tamil for TGTE’s virtual portal for Tamil Eelam symbolizes our desire to see this as our prime entrance to our common space like in old times where we meet, greet and exchange points of view but virtually in today’s context. A Twitter account will be the means for the dialogue, and Prime Minister Rudrakumaran has assured his participation in the open lines of dialogue with the people of Tamil Eelam.

The new account is to be called @TGTETamilEelam

The First tweet message going out is: "Welcome 2 Thalaivaasal - Market place of ideas - let's talk & beat the 6th Amendment - Rudra"

We welcome all to our ‘thalaivaasal’and let us make the technology work for greater sharing, meaningful exchanges, and open dialogue towards the common good, our freedom!
