Tyrant's Next Move: Plot To Arrest the Common Candidate

( December 26, 2014, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A sinister move is said to be underway to arrest Common Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena has come to light following information provided by a confessor Dhammika Bandara Illangasinghe to police.

Illangasinghe has told the Mount Lavinia Magistrate that a sum of Rs.160 million in foreign currency found at his residence in Ratmalana was given by Maithripala Sirisena to be given to his uncle.

Illangasinghe is the son of the bother of the father of the girlfriend of Dhaham who is the son of Maithripala.

He told the magistrate he had brought the money home on the 14th of this month.

He also said that it was his uncle Athula Rohana Weeraratne who told him that the money was given by Maithripala Sirisena.

But police have not been able to make any arrests as the residents of the house had fled.

Police are said to be awaiting instructions from court to carry out further investigations.

Meanwhile; Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama has secretly left for Singapore early this morning (26).

Reports say that his flight (Singapore Airlines SQ 468) took off from Katunayake, Colombo at 12.51 am.

On Dec. 24, Baddegama Magistrate Chandima Edirimanne issued an arrest warrant on Muthuhettigama.

He is charged of forcibly releasing the suspects who were under police arrest for torching a stage of Maithripala Sirisena in Wanduramba.
