One of the senior most serving diplomats in Sri Lanka’s Foreign Service has passed away in this evening in Germany.
Mr M. Ranjith Gunaratna, Consul General in the Sri Lankan consulate general in Frankfurt, Germany passed away after a brief illness, a source in the family said.
Mr Gunaratana is an outstanding diplomat and prolific author on various subjects including literature and foreign affairs. He was specializing in counter-terrorism.
We as the nation will never forget his kindness and the exceptional contribution he made for the benefit of the country. May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain.
