Sri Lanka: Sirisena takes wing to China with 25 others

President Maithripala Sirisena along with 25 "Sri Lankan delegates" took wing to China for a three-day visit today (May 13). President Sirisena is attending a “Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilisations” that will open on May 15

The President along with a delegation of 27 members will reach China via a transit flight after touching down first in Singapore.

Accordingly, the delegation led by the President had left for Singapore on SriLankan flight UL 302 at around 7:35 this morning.

Meanwhile, the State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardena was appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence today (May 13), as President Maithripala Sirisena is out of the country, sources said. 

The appointment comes in the wake of President Sirisena's official visit to China. President Sirisena took wing to China this morning to attend the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations from May 15 to May 22.
