Sri Lanka: Welcome to Jaffna International Airport

The Palaly International Airport in Jaffna has been renamed as 'Jaffna International Airport'.

The process of developing the Palaly International Airport as a regional and an international airport, which has initially been maintained as a domestic airport, has been commenced in July under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga.

As reported, the developmental activities of the airport are set to be concluded by next Thursday (10).

The newly-modified Jaffna International Airport will be declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in the near future.

At the same time, the Ratmalana and Batticaloa domestic airports will also be named as international airports.

Accordingly, with these renamings, the total number of international airports in the country will increase to five.
