LTTE Pistol Squad shot and killed Paranjothy Muttukumar, 52, the Village Officer of Kaddaiparichchaan GS area in Sri Lanka Army (SLA) held Mooothoor East in Trincomalee district Thursday around 8:00 p.m. Paranjothi Muttukumar was a member of the Eelam Revolutionary Orgnization (EROS).
A spokesperson for the EROS confirmed today that Paranjothy Muttukumar was their member and this was their 5th member killed in 6 months. It was previously thought that the deceased was called out from his house at Paddiththidal by armed men believed to paramilitary personnel operated by the Sri Lanka Army but the spokesperson for EROS claimed that this gruesome killing had all the hallmarks of the LTTE Pistol Squad.
The EROS claims that the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence made several assurances to them that their members would be protected in the East but instead they are being targeted one by one by different groups most recently the JIHAD group who assasinated their member Jeyaraj in Trinco recently.
“The Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse has delegated the Head of Military Intelligence Major General Kapila Hendavitharana to investigate these killings and assure the EROS that the Government of Sri Lanka will guarantee their safety and security whilst operating in the East however a spokesperson for EROS claimed that more needed to be done by the Sri Lankan Government other than false promises and assurances,” sources in EROS told the Lanka Guardian.
