President meets Indian Foreign Minister in NY

President Mahinda Rajapaksa meets India’s External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukarjee in New York, Today.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa told the Indian Foreign Minister that a political solution would be found immediately to restore peace through the All Party Conference.

The President met the Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherji at a special meeting held at the 62nd Annual Summit of the United Nations. President Rajapaksa has expressed his plans to restore the lost democratic rights of the people in the Eastern Province and to establish political leadership there.

At the meeting the Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama too participated and discussions were conducted on future economical agreements between the two countries.

Meanwhile the President will meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on tomorrow morning, which will be followed by a discussion with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at which the President is expected to reaffirm Lanka's commitment to the Palestinian cause.
