(October, 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) the Marxist political party in Sri Lanka is to request the International Community (IC) not to pressurize the government into enter negotiations with the LTTE at a time it is facing heavy military defeats, political sources say. The JVP believes that going by past experiences, talks will only give a military boost to the LTTE.

In this backdrop, the party has decided to ask the US, the UN, the co-chairs to the Tokyo donor conference and European nations not to force the government into negotiations.

Political sources added that the JVP is also going to propose to foreign powers to first investigate human rights violations in Iraq before inquiring into the human rights record of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile JVP Propaganda secretary and leader of the MPs group of the JVP Wimal Weerawansa said that the international Community fronted by America should help crush the LTTE terrorism unleashed against Sri Lanka. He said this to American meeting held at the JVP head office in Colombo on the request from the American Ambassador few days ago.
