Rs.2 billion CEB Power project awarded at 80% higher cost flouting Tender procedure!

(November,13, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Yet another award of an Rs.2 billion rupee project by the Ministry of Power and Energy without cost evaluation and flouting Tender procedure has been alleged by the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union .Owing to this glaring wrongful action of the Ministry this project will cost over 80 % of the actual amount, it added.

Besides, the funding Agency, the Nordic Bank is advancing this money as a commercial loan, and not a soft loan.

This kind of dubious irresponsible project funding and borrowings is a common feature with this Rajapakse Government. And, according to Economic experts these types of insidious and illicit arrangements have also been contributory to the country’s present dismal economic straits.
