"Govt. has no cause for jubilation" - UNP

(December, 16, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) "Since of late, in Sri Lanka, time and again it has become evident , , that voting and victories in Parliament do not mirror the true will of the people as those members who enter Parliament as people’s representatives have never stood by the aspirations of the masses and voters after winning, for which they were elected," according to the UNP press statement released on Today.

"No sooner they win elections than they have forgotten the promises they have made to their voters and the policies they promulgated, with personal agendas obnoxiously overtaking them," it's said.

'In such a political climate in Sri Lanka, the Govt. has no cause for jubilation on the passage of the budget 2008, because any Govt. which has most number of corrupt, deceitful and hypocritical politicians wins in Sri Lanka," it's observed.

'One illustration is the JVP stance at the second reading of the budget, and chameleon abilities displayed by it in the final reading.'
