Military Denied LTTE Allegations

11 School Children Killed Another 17 Wounded in Claymore Blast

(January 29, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara totally denied LTTE allegations that Sri Lanka Army deep penetration unit attacked a civilian school bus in the Madhu area. He stressed that there were no military teams operating in those areas.

The Claymore attacked killed at least 11 including the school principal and wounded at least 17; the school bus was traveling from Thadchanamaruthamu to Pallamadu carrying school children when claymore exploded.

It is feared, death toll may rise even further as many of the wounded children are bleeding heavily.

According to LTTE media, “many times in the past the Sri Lankan armed forces targeted and killed children in Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan forces.”

The Sri Lankan government is very insincere when they speak about caring for the welfare of the Tamil children to the world capitals and expressed their crocodile tears, the reports added.

Sri Lankan government recently unilaterally scrapped the truce pact which was signed between the LTTE and the GoSL in February 2002 under the Norway sponsor, which automatically also ends the monitoring mission.
