(March 23, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) Well-known political party in Tamil Nadu the AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Sunday demanded immediate action against the assailants of her party’s Tuticorin Union secretary V P R Suresh.

In a statement, she said people affected by the recent rains of Tuticorin union resorted to road roko on Saturday.

'Instead of helping the people, DMK’s Tuticorin Union president Karunakaran attacked the public in the presence of government officials including the police', the AIADMK chief alleged and added that her party's Tuticorin Union secretary VPR Suresh rushed to the road blockade spot as soon as he received information.

He participated in the road roko, demanded relief assistance for the rain/flood affected people besides demanding stern action against the 'DMK men' who attacked the protesters.

Infuriated by this, a 'group of DMK men' armed with aruvaal and bamboo sticks attacked Suresh when he was alone in the party union office, Jayalalithaa alleged.

Suresh was rushed to Tuticorin government general hospital from where he was shifted to a Madurai hospital. ‘I strongly condemn this violence and demand strong action against the assailants,’ she said.
