Kattankudy and Batti affected by hartal

(June 03, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka Guardian) The agitation campaign in the predominantly Muslim town of Kattankudy is continuing for the second consecutive day with activities in the region coming to a complete standstill.

The hartal campaign was spreading into the Batticaloa area as well by afternoon, affecting normalcy in the area.

Senior Police officers of the Kattankudy area held a meeting today with Muslim representatives to restore normalcy in the region.

The protest campaign came after a Muslim businessman was killed on Sunday.
