Underworld gang involved in Pettah blast - Govt.
[September 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian]At least 10 people were injured following a blast at Gaspaha junction in Pettah a short while ago. Police suspect blast was caused by a grenade. National hospital says two critical. Few vehicles also damaged.
Meanwhile, the grenade explosion in which few persons were injured in Pettah was an incident involving underworld gang membes, militry spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara said. He said the explosion had gone off under a car causing damage to the vehicle. "We can ruleout that it was an incident involving the LTTE", he said. - Sri Lanka Guardian
