Create job opportunities!

– Virakesari Editorial

(September 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) It is necessary to take all possible steps to increase job opportunities and help the people to live without any problems.

The major causes for the economic problems faced by the people are lack of income and lack of job opportunities. Particularly, the educated youths of the country are frustrated due to lack of job opportunities.

Meanwhile, the unemployed graduates in the east have announced that they are going to fast as a protest on the 11th of September. They demand that they be given non teaching positions in the eastern provincial councils and in other departments.

It is regrettable that these youths, who had spent several years on education, have to agitate and struggle for employment. It is really a misfortune. We stress that the vacancies in departments be identified and appropriate appointments be made and the unemployment problem be resolved.

Due to unemployment, most of the youths of the country go to several countries including the Middle East seeking jobs. Some migrate illegally to European countries. Having gone there, they suffer immensely. Therefore, adequate job opportunities must be found for them in our country.

Another disturbing feature is that there is a brain drain due to the present crisis in the country.

Therefore we reiterate that adequate employment opportunities must be created in the country for the uplift of the economy and the standard of living of the people!
