The Campaign for Democracy, Justice, Peace and Unity in Sri Lanka


(October 17, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Campaign for Democracy, Justice, Peace and Unity in Sri Lanka in coordination with other mainstream democratic Sri Lankan political parties and organisations is pleased to announce its first meeting for all peace loving Sri Lankans from all communities and others to attend and be a part of.

Representatives from the following parties and other organizations have been invited and may also be present to speak at this meeting is scheduled to take place n Quakers Meeting House, Bush Road, Wanstead, London, E11 3AU from From 12.30pm (start) to 5.30 pm (finish) – Lunch served: 12.30pm to 1.15pm on this Saturday 18th October 2008 on Sri Lanka - the present situation and the way forward.

EPDP, EPRLF, EROS, ENDLF, JVP, JHU, LSSP, PLOTE, SLFP, SLMC, TMVP, TELO, TNA, TULF, UNP, LTCA (London Tamil Councillors Association), SLDF (Sri Lanka Democracy Forum), SIF-UK (Sri Lanka Islamic Forum - UK), SL-AT (Sri Lankan Against Terrorism), TDC (Tamil Democratic Congress) and the TiC (Tamil Information Centre)

As we respect the sensitivities of all our communities from Sri Lanka and elsewhere, delegates speaking at this meeting will not be allowed to use any words in their speech with racist undertones that will aggravate, cause insult or concerns for members of the public attending this meeting including other delegates.

This meeting has been organised to bring all members of the Tamil, Muslim and Sinhalese communities together under one roof to meet and discuss our country’s problems, grievances faced by our communities and other issues with the hope that peace, unity, democracy and pluralism will finally be restored throughout our Island nation. There will be an opportunity for a question and answer session towards the end of the meeting.

This invitation goes out to all peace loving Sri Lankans and others to attend this meeting with a positive and open mind.

We also extend our invitation to all journalists and media persons. As this is an open meeting everyone irrespective of political, allegiances is welcome to attend this meeting and participate.

Please note that this meeting has been arranged with great efforts for the benefit of all our communities to come together and help our communities see an end to the plight that they are facing.

As organizers we operate and conform to a strict Zero Tolerance policy to any form of disruption, intimidation, discrimination, violence, racism or threats.
