President using dilatory tactics -Ranil

(March 11, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) All the sacrifices made by the security forces to safeguard the sovereignty of the country is in vain because the Govt. is not paying respect to its promises or the trust reposed in it by the people by delaying the appointment of Constitutional Councils, said Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at an election meeting at Ratmalana yesterday (10 Mar).

When the UNP has already named its nominee and the other parties have arrived at a consensus , the President as always is resorting to dilatory tactics in naming his nominee.

Regretting the Govt.’s rejection of his proposal to appoint a Committee to look into the assaults and murders of Journalists , Ranil said , only by electing the UNP the people can hope for relief , freedom and an end to media suppression and oppression of people . He also told the large gathering to brace for an impending unprecedented economic holocaust of a magnitude never witnessed before in the country due to the Govt.’s fiscal bungling and reckless spending starting from the day it came to power .
