(April 03, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne , Gen . Secretary of the Nava Sama Samaja party (NSSP), who visited Shantha Fernando , a human rights activist detained by the Terrorist investigation Dept. (TID) , said , the Govt. is detaining human rights activists because it is frightened that the stark truth about the human sufferings in SL can get exposed .
The police detained Shantha Fernando at the Colombo International Airport on ( 27 Mar) when he was on the way to participate in a conference in Delhi, India. -Sri Lanka Guardian
