Four hours strike at several hospitals

(May 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The nursing staff and the supplementary medical workers at several hospitals launched a four-hour strike today from 8am to 12 noon.

“The strike action is to protest against the steps taken by the Government Medical Officers’ Association to hinder the internships of students at the Allied Health Faculty at the University of Peradeniya,” said Ravi Kumudesh, Chairman of the Supplementary Medical Services Union.

This is an unacceptable situation. These selfish unions are making stupid demands when we have bigger problems to tackle. The Unions backed by other political considerations conveniently forget that they were shivering in their backs due to terrorist atrocities. Most of them were unable to engage in normal civic activities due this terrorist fear. However, when the government is trying to get rid of the terrorist menace these jokers are making stupid demands and disrupt the activities in their respective spheres.
