Shame on you, Channel 4

Note by Sri Lankan Guardian Editors

(May 11, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) Here below is the feature by Satchi Sithananthan in Frankurt we published Tuesday May 5, 2009 exposing its mischievous and fraudulent activities in Sri Lanka. We have also raised many issues especially regarding child soldiers when we begged the UNICEF three years ago to take a fleet of coaches to Wanni and collect the children conscripted by the LTTE and let them go free with their parents.

Just before the Sri Lankan Armed Forces began moving towards Kilinochchi we wanted a UN Force to be present in Wanni to ensure civilians were not used by the LTTE as human shield. We warned of two priests, Father Pathinathar and a runaway protestant church priest Sellathurai Jeyanesan urging their followers to go towards Mullaitivu when they should advised them to flee Wanni either southwards towards Vavuniya or northwards towards Jaffna which many people did do. Unfortunately, these two were part of the herders, the bad shepherds, who were leading their flock to slaughter.

Priest Jeyanesan is also known to have given some communication equipment to Pottu Amman. He has been walking the tightrope between Pottun Amman and Minister Devananda hoping either of them or both will help him to sort out his nightmare of having to account for millions of rupees he has collected in the name of social work in Sri Lanka from individuals and churches in the US, Europe and Israel. It is these types of people who are also encouraging organizations like Channel 4 to smear Sri Lanka overseas with all kinds of false information.

We were not happy about the Scandinavian Monitoring Mission, the INGOs and NGOs working in Wanni. Now that we have seen the kind of technology the LTTE had at its disposal, we are quite certain that our contentions were correct.

The steel used for the half-finished underwater vehicle and also the underwater tunnel leading to the sea must be of top quality and this was evidently smuggled from Tamilnadu, so powerful and versatile is the Tiger underworld. The LTTE has at its disposal massive funds and far too many people could be bought and the current times are ideal for the harvest by night. We also notice that three LTTE websites are so ignorant that they even advocate gunboat diplomacy against the sovereign state of Sri Lanka. They are Tamilnet, Tamil National and Puthinam.

Impressions are that there are journalists both overseas and national who would love to be part of the largesse and the LTTE is so desperate they will pay fortunes to have a favourable stpry un the press.

The pathetic Channel 4 Show, a cooked up con

By Satchi Sithananthan in Frankfurt

(May 06, Frankfurt, Sri Lanka Guardian) Viewers on Sri Lankan affairs globally are being treated to a cooked up con show by Britain’s Channel 4, the purpose of it without doubt is to discredit the Government of Sri Lanka. If it is not for news of a sensational value, a terrible addiction in the west, then it must have been intentioned to serve the interests of terror forces.

Claiming that it managed to steal in a camera into one of the IDPs camp, something that Channel 4 should not have done and probably endangered the life of someone to undertake that task, with some clippings here and there that could be obtained easily without stealing a camera inside, it made a Himalayan claim of rape and murder of women. Of these there was no photographic evidence of any kind, just a verbal claim of a shadowy figure.

This shadowy figure could be an LTTE cadre who had stolen out of the No Fire Zone masquerading as a civilian. He may even be a plant. His story and the way he expressed it bears no trace whatsoever of having been an affected civilian. He could be living in a Tiger-funded mansion in London or an employee of Channel 4; just about every kind of role is possible. But what one can be certain of is that a pack of lies pre-canned was prepared for this cook-up.

It was just a man in the shadows making such a claim and that could have been in the Channel 4 Studio in London. In actual fact, the stealing the camera story into the camp must itself be a lie.

Then as if this was not enough the interviewer in London, a lean and hungry man gets rough with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Great Britain ignoring the decencies that are required for interviews. This nasty interviewer was behaving as if he has a right to dictate terms to the High Commissioner and therefore to the Government of Sri Lanka. He should ask his own government in Great Britain how they treat civilian Iraqis instead.

Channel 4 News served no purpose except to throw mud at the Government of Sri Lanka engaged in fighting the most brutal terror organization in the world. Its entire presentation especially what it claimed as happening in the IDP camps is certainly a conspiratorially contrived con. How pathetic!

This TV feast is very good proof why foreign journalists should be kept away from areas that could be used to twist, turn and contort events and issues according to their whims and fancies and the demands of the masters they serve. It must, however, be said to the credit of the LTTE that they have exposed to the world that there are people in the higher echelons of power in the west who can even be influenced by the Tigers. Otherwise why do these people want to help the LTTE?

FUTURE TECH said...

The channel4 managed to sneak in to a refugee camp in north of Sri Lanka, but what have they captured?? Did they capture anything new?? What I see in the news is just the regular seen that I saw many times before. This means nothing, specially compared to what happened in Iraq, Palestine or in Afghan. Isn't this video proving that the camp is well managed? What I see here is a set of artificially made stories that would have created with or without getting in to this camp.. I know Tamils are excited about this new channel4 news. Channel4 is making hot news (most of the time hot news are lies) here.. International community has to be careful as some media create controversy for their own advantage. Anyway let’s go through couple of their comments to see if we can answer to them..
