Twelve arrested for attack on the Sri Lanka Embassy in Norway, FM

(May 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Twelve suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack on the Sri Lanka Embassy in Norway, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagam told Parliament today.

He said that the government expects the Norwegians to ensure that those guilty of the offence are meted out proper punishment for attacking the Embassy premises.

The Minister made the comments while responding to an adjournment question raised by MP Wimal Weerawansa who condemned the attack on the Embassy and accused Norway of being lackadaisical in its approach to punishing those responsible for the embassy attack.

He also said that some in the international community are attempting to exert pressure on the government to save Prabhakaran and that all patriotic MPs should unite against such attempts.

However Minister Bogollagama said there is no interference in the country’s problems by foreigners and that the government appreciated the assistance that the IC has extended to Sri Lanka by way of humanitarian assistance.
