(August 21, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to employees of People’s Bank the bank has undertaken the contract of boosting the political image of Colombo District UPFA Provincial Council Member Duminda Silva. The employees say the People’s Bank has made financial contribution to the political project of ‘Duminda Silva foundation’ launched by Duminda Silva. This has been confirmed by a letter sent by a Deputy General Manager to Zonal Asst. Manager. The Deputy Gen. Manager has emphasized that all Colombo branches should be made aware to carry out matters so that a good report could be developed with the relevant political authority.
The employees point out at a time the bank has stopped issuing loans to government employees which are officially due to them stating the bank is in a financial crisis, due to contributing large amounts of money to boost images of politicians the crisis in the bank would further escalate. -Sri Lanka Guardian
